A team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) conducted a review meeting with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in Chandigarh to evaluate the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Review of Field Activities
The ECI team examined house-to-house verification, submission and digitisation of enumeration forms, voter facilitation measures, functioning of helpdesks, grievance redressal mechanisms, and other activities undertaken during the revision process. According to officials, the meeting focused on strengthening coordination among field functionaries and enhancing voter outreach to ensure every eligible elector is effectively facilitated.
Emphasis on Timelines and Accuracy
The team stressed strict adherence to instructions and timelines prescribed by the ECI. Officers were directed to closely monitor field-level activities, maintain quality and accuracy of the revision, promptly address electors' grievances, and intensify awareness initiatives to maximise public participation.
