DUDA Files FIR Against Contractors for Substandard Road Work in Ramnagar
Varanasi: Taking serious note of widespread irregularities in interlocking road construction in the Rampur area of Ramnagar, the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) on Tuesday registered an FIR against two contractors for using substandard material, negligence in development works, and corruption.
DUDA has alleged that the work of road construction and interlocking was awarded through e-tender to Kanpur-based firm 'Messrs Avi Infratech'. The firm was required to complete the construction work by February 17. It is alleged that the firm not only showed negligence in completing the work on time, but the quality of construction carried out was also found to be extremely poor.
Ramnagar police, on the basis of the complaint, registered a case against the firm's proprietors, Vinesh Kumar Kushwaha and Ankur Kushwaha, under section 318(1) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been handed over to Sub-Inspector Jai Prakash Singh. Police also sent a copy to the district magistrate and municipal commissioner for necessary action.
The DUDA action underscores the commitment to ensuring quality in public infrastructure projects. The FIR serves as a warning to contractors involved in similar malpractices. Further investigation may reveal additional lapses, and strict legal action will be pursued against those found guilty.
