Nagpur: In a major relief for residents of the Dabha area who had been demanding a proper road for years, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Amravati Road-Dabha cement road project in Prabhag No. 12. The project, being undertaken by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under a special grant from the Maharashtra Government, will connect Amravati Road to the International Agriculture Convention Centre Air Force Gate up to Dabha Ring Road.
Project Details and Benefits
The proposed road is expected to significantly improve connectivity in the rapidly developing Dabha belt, especially with major infrastructure projects coming up in the area. Speaking during the programme, Rajya Sabha MP Maya Ivnate said residents were consistently demanding the construction of a durable cement road for several years due to poor road conditions and increasing traffic movement in the locality. She expressed satisfaction that the long-pending demand of citizens was finally being addressed.
Technical Specifications
Sports Special Committee chairperson Darshana Dhawad, while presenting details of the project, said the work includes construction of an 18-metre-wide cement road along a 730-metre stretch from Amravati Road to the International Agriculture Convention Centre, Air Force Gate. The project will also include 1.5-metre-wide footpaths on both sides along with stormwater drainage works. The total estimated cost of the project is around Rs 5 crore.
Smart Road Development
Former mayor Dayashankar Tiwari said the stretch would be developed as a smart road considering the upcoming International Agriculture Convention Centre in the area. Several public representatives, civic officials and local residents were present during the ceremony. The project marks a significant step towards improving urban infrastructure in Nagpur, aligning with the city's growth trajectory.
