The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has established a 24x7 flood control office to tackle waterlogging issues in the city during the monsoon season. The office will operate from May 15 onwards, with mock drills scheduled to begin on the same day to test preparedness.
Key Measures
The flood control office will monitor waterlogging-prone areas and coordinate with various agencies for swift action. A dedicated helpline number has been released for residents to report waterlogging complaints. The GMDA has also deployed teams for desilting drains and cleaning stormwater channels ahead of the rains.
Mock Drills and Coordination
Starting May 15, mock drills will be conducted in vulnerable zones to assess response times and equipment readiness. The GMDA will work closely with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, the Public Health Engineering Department, and the National Disaster Response Force to ensure a coordinated approach.
Residents can contact the flood control office on the helpline number 1800-180-6117 for any waterlogging-related issues. The GMDA has urged citizens to cooperate and report problems promptly to minimize inconvenience.
