Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that work experience in the private sector is a key criterion for recruitment to government jobs. He revealed that the government plans to recruit around 2,500 individuals through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
Transparent Recruitment Process
Speaking at the Job Fair 2026 organized by the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) at Verna Industrial Estate, Sawant said, "The Staff Selection Commission is a transparent process. Exams for 2,500 jobs will be conducted in the coming days, and the recruitment for 2,500 will also be completed soon. It is time for everyone to prepare for competitive exams."
Reservation for GHRDC-Trained Candidates
The Chief Minister also stated that 20% of government vacancies being advertised are reserved for candidates who have worked with the GHRDC. The job fair brought together 25 companies offering around 740 vacancies across various sectors, with about 1,300 candidates selected by the private sector.
Mandatory Experience Requirement
"We have the Staff Selection Commission, but even if you want to join as a multi-tasking staff or lower division clerk, one year of experience is compulsory," said the CM. He emphasized that the government is also promoting entrepreneurship among youth and is fully committed to providing employment opportunities for them.
Upskilling and Stipend Support
Sawant highlighted the importance of encouraging youth to explore opportunities in the private sector and entrepreneurship. He said the government is willing to provide upskilling courses for staff hired by manufacturing units if those units pay the stipend for the staff.
Government Schemes for Employment
The CM noted the role of structured programs such as the Chief Minister Rozgar Yojana and skill development initiatives in strengthening employment pathways and promoting entrepreneurship among youth.
