Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday chaired the fourth meeting of the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) in Chandigarh and directed officers to construct recharge wells in every park to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon. He also mandated that only treated water be used for irrigating parks.
Development Plans and Vision for Panchkula
During the meeting, the CM reviewed ongoing works under the PMDA and approved future development plans for the city. He reiterated the government's objective to make Panchkula the number one city in Haryana and directed officials to prepare a comprehensive, time-bound action plan to realize this vision.
Slum-Free and Modern Housing
Saini directed officers to work towards making Panchkula a slum-free city. He instructed them to identify suitable land and prepare a detailed project for constructing high-rise residential apartments to provide modern housing facilities for eligible families.
Monsoon Preparedness and Sanitation
Emphasizing monsoon readiness, the CM ordered that sewer lines and drains be cleaned promptly to ensure smooth rainwater disposal. He also directed that three super sucker machines of the Haryana State Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HSVP) be handed over to the Municipal Corporation (MC) to strengthen mechanized cleaning operations.
Fountain Park and City Beautification
The CM directed the development of a fountain park in Panchkula, modeled after Leisure Valley in Gurugram. He stressed on city beautification to make Panchkula a model for other urban centers. Specific instructions included creating attractive wall paintings, beautifying all 14 major intersections, and preparing a comprehensive proposal for storm-water drainage at these locations.
Inquiry into Multi-Feature Park Project
Reviewing the multi-feature park project, officials informed the CM that nearly Rs 22 crore had already been spent on it. Taking note of the expenditure, Saini ordered an inquiry into the project and directed officials to submit a detailed report.
Next Meeting Scheduled
The CM announced that the next meeting of the PMDA would be held next month.
