Himachal Govt: No LPG Shortage Despite Reduced Commercial Supply

Himachal Pradesh Government Confirms Adequate LPG Supply Amid Concerns

The government of Himachal Pradesh issued a firm assurance on Tuesday, stating that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders across the state. This declaration comes despite the fact that only approximately 60% of the normal allocation of commercial LPG is currently being received by distributors.

Monitoring Committee Meeting Addresses Supply Chain Issues

Kumud Singh, the Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, chaired a crucial meeting of the state-level monitoring committee to review the situation. During the session, she emphasized that all commercial establishments are being adequately supplied with LPG cylinders to meet their operational needs.

Director Singh provided detailed insights into the supply infrastructure, revealing that a robust network of 191 gas agencies is actively operating throughout Himachal Pradesh. This extensive network is working tirelessly to ensure an uninterrupted and consistent supply of both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders to consumers across urban and rural areas.

Oil Companies Confirm Sufficient Fuel Stocks

Representatives from major oil marketing companies, who were present at the monitoring committee meeting, provided additional reassurances regarding fuel availability. They confirmed that stocks of petrol and diesel are more than adequate, with current reserves sufficient to last for up to 15 days of normal consumption.

The oil company officials further stated that replenishment of these fuel stocks is continuing smoothly through established supply chains, with no significant disruptions anticipated in the near future. This comprehensive fuel security helps maintain normalcy in transportation and other essential services across the state.

Streamlining KYC Processes for Domestic Consumers

Addressing concerns about pending Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation for domestic LPG connections, Director Singh issued clear directives to the oil companies. She instructed them to ensure that no consumer is denied LPG supply due to incomplete or pending documentation.

The director emphasized the importance of completing KYC processes in camp mode, organizing special verification drives to minimize inconvenience to consumers. This proactive approach aims to resolve documentation issues efficiently while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Enhanced Communication and Digital Initiatives

To improve transparency and consumer awareness, gas agencies across Himachal Pradesh have been instructed to notify local authorities in advance about their delivery schedules. This measure ensures wider dissemination of information regarding cylinder availability and distribution timelines.

Additionally, oil companies have been directed to facilitate electronic KYC (eKYC) processes at designated delivery points. This digital initiative aims to simplify documentation for consumers while reducing paperwork and processing times for gas agencies.

The comprehensive measures announced by the Himachal Pradesh government demonstrate a multi-faceted approach to maintaining essential fuel supplies while addressing administrative challenges through improved processes and better communication channels.
