CM Sukhu confirms new industrial policy nearing notification

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday stated that the Himachal Pradesh government is in the final stages of framing a new industrial policy, which will be notified shortly. The policy aims to accelerate industrial growth, attract investment, and generate employment in the state.

Stakeholder consultations and ease of doing business

Chairing a review meeting of the Industries Department, Sukhu said consultations with all stakeholders are being held to ensure the policy is comprehensive and industry-friendly. He added that the government is strengthening the single-window clearance system and simplifying rules under the ease of doing business initiative to make it easier for industrialists to establish and operate enterprises.

Past reforms and future outlook

Sukhu noted that the government has already undertaken several policy initiatives and legal reforms over the past three-and-a-half years to improve the investment climate. He expressed confidence that the new industrial policy will play a key role in attracting fresh investments while creating job opportunities for the youth.

Bulk drug park at Una: Rs 2,071 crore project

Reviewing the progress of the bulk drug park at Una, the CM directed officers to expedite the project and invite reputed companies from across the country to invest. He said the Rs 2,071-crore project will generate substantial employment. Around 800 bighas of land has been levelled, and site development work is progressing on a war footing. Sukhu also asked officials to complete the common effluent treatment plant and steam generation facility by July 15.

Unity Mall at Dharamsala

The Chief Minister also reviewed the construction of the Unity Mall at Dharamsala, stating that the first instalment of Rs 66 crore has already been released. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan and senior government officers attended the meeting.
