Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday assured the nation that there is no supply issue as India has 69 days of crude oil and LNG reserves, along with 45 days of LPG stock. Addressing a press conference, Puri emphasized that the country's energy security is robust despite global uncertainties.
India's Energy Reserves Adequate
Puri stated that the government has taken proactive measures to ensure sufficient fuel availability. 'We have 69 days of crude oil and LNG reserves and 45 days of LPG stock. There is no need for panic as supplies are adequate,' he said. The minister highlighted that India's strategic petroleum reserves and additional storage facilities provide a strong buffer against any disruption.
Global Context and Preparedness
The assurance comes amid rising global oil prices and geopolitical tensions. Puri noted that the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with oil marketing companies to maintain smooth supply. 'Our refineries are operating at full capacity, and we have diversified our import sources to minimize risks,' he added.
The minister also mentioned that the government has increased the number of LPG distributors and introduced direct benefit transfer to ensure subsidies reach the needy. 'We are committed to providing affordable and uninterrupted energy to every citizen,' Puri said.
Impact on Consumers
With adequate stocks, consumers can expect stable prices for petrol, diesel, and cooking gas. The minister urged the public not to resort to panic buying, as supplies are sufficient for several weeks. 'Our energy infrastructure is resilient, and we are prepared to handle any exigency,' he concluded.
