The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against 15 employees for allegedly failing to report for duties related to the Census 2027. The employees facing action include senior teachers, lecturers, Level 1 and Level 2 teachers, and a junior assistant. The civic body has asserted that there will be no relaxation in Census 2027 preparations and that action will continue as per rules against any negligent employees.
Proposed Suspension and Forwarding to District Collector
Civic officials have proposed suspension action against the absent employees and have forwarded the matter to the district collector. This step was taken after the employees reportedly remained absent despite repeated instructions and official notices. According to JMC officials, staff members from various departments were assigned census-related responsibilities through different zonal offices. They were directed to report to their respective offices and assume charge within the stipulated time frame. However, several employees did not report for duty even after receiving appointment orders.
Escalation of Disciplinary Measures
The corporation initially issued directions asking the employees to join work and later served show-cause notices. Officials stated that the employees still failed to report, prompting the administration to initiate stricter action. JMC Commissioner Om Kasera wrote to the District Collector, Sandesh Nayak, recommending final show-cause notices and proposed suspension action against the concerned employees. The administration has also warned that departmental proceedings could follow if the staff members continue to remain absent.
National Importance of Census
JMC officials described the census as a task of national importance and emphasized that negligence in such work would not be tolerated. They added that the absence of assigned staff had started affecting preparations linked to the large-scale exercise. The civic body remains committed to ensuring that all census-related duties are performed efficiently and without delay.
