JMC Suspends Two Junior Assistants Over Census Duty Absence

The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has suspended two junior assistants for allegedly failing to report for duties related to the first phase of Census 2027, officials confirmed on Saturday. The employees, Pankaj Jat from the Assembly Cell and Rambabu Sharma from the office superintendent branch, were assigned to the Hawa Mahal-Amer zone under an order issued on June 3 for house listing and housing enumeration work, which constitutes the initial stage of the upcoming census exercise.

Details of the Suspension

According to JMC officials, neither employee reported for the assigned duty despite being officially deployed for the task. Following their absence, the corporation initiated disciplinary proceedings under the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958. Separate suspension orders were issued by JMC commissioner Om Kasera, stating that the employees' failure to join census work amounted to negligence of official duties.

Disciplinary Action

Both officials have been placed under suspension with immediate effect under Rule 13(1) of the service rules. Officials emphasized that census-related assignments are treated as mandatory government duty, and employees deputed for the exercise are expected to report as directed. The corporation maintained that any lapse in carrying out such responsibilities would be dealt with strictly under service rules.
