The Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal has issued strict instructions to all concerned officials to ensure complete cleaning of drains in the district before the onset of monsoon rains. The directive was given during a meeting to review the preparedness for the upcoming rainy season.

The DC emphasized that clogged drains lead to waterlogging, which not only causes inconvenience to residents but also becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, increasing the risk of vector-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. He warned that any negligence in this regard would be viewed seriously, and strict action would be taken against erring officials.
Timeline and Responsibility
All municipal committees and councils have been asked to expedite the work and complete the cleaning of all major and minor drains within the next two weeks. The DC also directed the officials to ensure that the silt and garbage removed from drains are disposed of properly and not dumped on roadsides.
Furthermore, the DC instructed the health department to conduct regular fogging and spraying of anti-larval chemicals in all vulnerable areas to prevent mosquito breeding. He also asked the public works department to ensure that all roads are in good condition and that potholes are filled to avoid water accumulation.
Monitoring and Compliance
A special monitoring team will be constituted to inspect the drain cleaning work and submit daily reports to the DC office. The DC also urged the residents to cooperate with the administration and refrain from throwing solid waste into drains, which is a major cause of blockages.
