ED Raids Pinarayi Vijayan's Homes, Daughter's Firm in CMRL Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted raids at multiple locations linked to former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, including his official residences and the premises of his daughter Veena T's Bengaluru-based firm, Exalogic Solutions. The searches are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities involving Veena T's company and the mining firm Cochin Ministers and Rutiles Limited (CMRL).

Raids in Connection with CMRL Allegations

According to sources, the ED action stems from suspicions that Exalogic Solutions entered into questionable business deals with CMRL, a prominent mining entity. Investigators are examining whether these transactions violated anti-money laundering laws. The raids covered at least three locations in Kerala and Karnataka, including Vijayan's family home in Thiruvananthapuram and the corporate office of Exalogic Solutions in Bengaluru.

Details of the Investigation

The ED has been probing the case for several months, focusing on the financial links between Veena T's firm and CMRL. Preliminary findings suggest that Exalogic Solutions received substantial payments from CMRL without adequate documentation or justification. The agency is also looking into whether political influence was exerted to facilitate these deals.

Officials stated that documents, digital devices, and financial records have been seized during the raids. The ED is expected to question Veena T and other key individuals in the coming days. The development has sparked political controversy, with opposition parties demanding a thorough inquiry and the ruling CPI(M) dismissing the raids as politically motivated.

This is not the first time the Vijayan family has faced scrutiny over business dealings. In 2023, similar allegations surfaced but were dismissed by the Kerala High Court due to lack of evidence. However, the ED's current action indicates a renewed focus on the matter.
