On the occasion of International Labour Day, the district administration of Kanpur disbursed financial assistance to beneficiaries of various labour schemes during a ceremony held at the Naveen auditorium on Friday. The event began with an online address by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, which was attentively listened to by the workers present. During the programme, workers from both organized and unorganized sectors were also felicitated for their contributions.
Financial Assistance Under Key Schemes
Under the Jyotiba Phule Shramik Kanyadan Yojana, a sum of Rs 51,000 each was provided to five beneficiaries: Rambabu, Nidhi Shukla, Kayam Singh, Mahesh Chand, and Rajendra Kumar. This scheme is designed to support the marriage of daughters of labourers. Furthermore, under the Technical Education Assistance Scheme, financial aid of Rs 25,000 was extended to the children of Ved Prakash Mishra and Ashok Jha, enabling them to pursue technical education.
Support for Unorganized Workers
Under the Shishu evam Balika Madad Yojana (Child and Girl Child Assistance Scheme), financial assistance of Rs 31,000 and Rs 26,000 was provided to five beneficiaries among unorganized workers. This scheme aims to support the welfare of children and girl children. Additionally, benefits were distributed under the Sant Ravidas Shiksha Sahayata Yojana (Sant Ravidas Education Assistance Scheme) to facilitate the education of workers' children.
Anil Dixit, the Bharatiya Janata Party district president (North), graced the occasion as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included ADM City Rajesh Kumar and other district officials. The event underscored the commitment of the district administration to the welfare of the labour force.
