Kanpur DM Orders Salary Deduction for Absent Employees

The District Magistrate of Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, conducted a surprise inspection of the Industries department on Thursday and directed that a one-day salary be deducted for employees who were found absent without authorization.

Absent Employees Face Penalty

During the random inspection, six employees were found absent from their duties. Among those missing were the Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner (Industries). The DM expressed strong displeasure over the absence of such senior officials and ordered strict action.

In his directive, the DM emphasized that public grievances must be addressed daily between 10 am and 12 pm without fail. He also mandated that all gazetted officers must sign the attendance register personally to ensure accountability.

Maintenance of Records

While reviewing the movement register, the DM discovered that no entries had been made since April 7, 2026. He expressed serious concern over this lapse and instructed that office records be maintained regularly and kept up to date at all times.

The DM's inspection underscores the administration's commitment to punctuality, transparency, and efficient public service delivery in Kanpur.
