Kanpur DM Orders Adverse Entry, Bans Leave for Poor Performers
Kanpur DM Takes Strict Action on Underperforming Officers

In a stern review of government works, Kanpur District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh has taken stringent action against underperforming departments and officials. A high-level meeting was convened at the new auditorium in Sarsaiyaghat to assess progress on projects displayed on the Chief Minister's Dashboard and construction works valued over Rs 1 crore.

Strict Measures Against Poor Performance

Expressing strong dissatisfaction, the DM directed that an adverse entry be issued against the District Coordinator for the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DC-NRLM). This disciplinary action was taken due to the department consistently receiving a D grade in performance evaluations. Taking the crackdown further, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Shrimati Diksha Jain was instructed to grant no leave to any officer or employee who receives a B, C, or D grade, signaling a zero-tolerance policy towards underperformance.

Displeasure Over Departmental Lapses

The meeting saw the DM calling out specific departments for their shortcomings. He voiced significant displeasure over the poor performance of the electricity department in improving bill collection and services. The absence of Executive Engineer (Electricity-Commercial) and Nodal Officer A.K. Prabhakar without prior permission was also noted seriously, and an explanation has been sought for his unauthorised non-attendance.

Focus on CM Dashboard and Project Deadlines

Jitendra Pratap Singh emphasised that all work reflected on the CM Dashboard must be completed in a time-bound, qualitative, and effective manner. A detailed assessment of ongoing projects was conducted during the meeting. The DM instructed the CDO to prepare a list of the most delayed projects and ensure their regular monitoring to expedite progress.

He issued a clear directive that all departmental officers must upload the progress of construction works on the designated portal within stipulated deadlines. The administration warned that strict action will be initiated if any negligence is found at any level, holding officials accountable for delays.

The review was attended by several senior officials including Chief Medical Officer Dr. Haridatt Nemi, District Economics and Statistics Officer Isha Sharma, along with other departmental officers.
