Kanpur: A coordinated enforcement drive was conducted by a joint team comprising officials from the revenue, police, transport, and mining departments in the Ghatampur police station area of Kanpur on Friday night. During the operation, action was taken against 91 vehicle owners for various traffic rule violations, including overloading, missing number plates, use of pressure horns, and other infractions.
Penalties and Fines Imposed
The transport and mining departments specifically targeted seven vehicle owners for irregularities related to overloading, tax, permit, licence, and pressure horns. A cumulative fine of approximately Rs 4 lakh 48 thousand was imposed on these violators. Meanwhile, the police department seized 17 vehicles and issued challans to 74 others for non-compliance with traffic regulations.
Official Statement
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Avichal Pratap Singh emphasised that strict action would continue against those who violate road safety rules. He stated that overloading and disregard for traffic rules not only constitute a legal violation but also pose a significant threat to public safety. Singh added that negligence in adhering to traffic norms would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
