Kanpur Municipal Corporation Intensifies Cleanliness Drive for Navaratri and Eid Festivities
The Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has taken proactive measures to ensure comprehensive cleanliness across the city in preparation for the upcoming Navaratri and Eid celebrations. Municipal officials have confirmed the deployment of sanitary workers to maintain hygiene standards during these significant religious events.
High-Level Meeting to Coordinate Sanitation Efforts
Mayor Pramila Panday convened a crucial meeting on Wednesday with all zonal officers and representatives from the Jalkal department. The primary agenda was to discuss and finalize detailed sanitation arrangements for temples and Eidgahs throughout Kanpur.
During the meeting, Mayor Panday issued specific directives to enhance infrastructure and cleanliness:
- Improvement of approach roads leading to temples, mosques, and Eidgahs to ensure safe and accessible pathways for devotees.
- Covering of sewer manholes to prevent accidents and maintain public safety during crowded festivities.
- Installation of slabs over open drains to eliminate health hazards and improve overall sanitation.
- Arrangements for temporary decorations at religious sites while ensuring they do not compromise cleanliness standards.
Municipal Commissioner Emphasizes Accountability and Action Plans
Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay emphasized the importance of on-ground verification and systematic planning. He instructed officials to personally verify staff presence at all designated sites to ensure adequate workforce deployment.
Commissioner Upadhyay further directed the preparation and immediate submission of action plans specifically addressing work on approach roads. This structured approach aims to facilitate timely completion of improvements before the festivals commence.
Jalkal Department Ensures Water Supply for Community Events
Anand Kumar Tripathi, General Manager of the Jalkal department, outlined comprehensive arrangements for water supply during the festive period. Tankers have been organized to serve every bhandara event during Navaratri, ensuring devotees have access to clean drinking water.
Additionally, Tripathi confirmed that water tankers will be stationed at sixteen strategic locations across Kanpur during Eid festivities. This dual preparation addresses the water needs of both Hindu and Muslim communities celebrating their respective festivals.
The Kanpur Municipal Corporation's coordinated efforts demonstrate a commitment to inclusive civic management, focusing on sanitation, infrastructure, and essential services during important religious observances. These measures aim to create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents participating in Navaratri and Eid celebrations.
