Kapurthala digitises 76,479 enumeration forms in SIR drive

The Kapurthala district administration has digitised 76,479 enumeration forms through a dedicated mobile application as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive for electoral roll revision. The figure was recorded as of late Saturday evening, according to Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Akash Bansal.

Door-to-door campaign launched on June 25

The campaign, initiated on June 25, 2026, under the directives of the Election Commission of India, involves booth level officers (BLOs) visiting households to distribute enumeration forms. BLOs are also responsible for digitally uploading the completed forms received from eligible voters.

Bansal urged voters to cooperate with the ongoing exercise by filling in the original enumeration forms and handing them over to the BLO during the next visit. He stated that a receipt would be issued upon submission, while the duplicate copy would remain with the voter for future reference. In cases where the registered voter is unavailable, any adult family member may hand over the completed form.

Helpline and BLO booking facility available

Voters who have not yet received their enumeration forms can contact the Election Commission's toll-free helpline 1950 or the district administration's helpline at 01822-233777. Additionally, a 'Book a call with BLO' facility is available to ensure timely delivery and collection of forms.

The house-to-house enumeration campaign will continue until July 24, 2026, and the rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by the same date.

Key dates for electoral roll revision

The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 3, 2026. Claims and objections can be submitted from August 3 to September 2, 2026, and will be disposed of by September 28, 2026. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1, 2026. Bansal urged all eligible voters to actively participate in the revision exercise to help ensure accurate, updated, and inclusive electoral rolls.
