The Karnal Municipal Corporation has initiated a comprehensive revamp of the city's drainage system to mitigate waterlogging issues during the upcoming monsoon season. The project aims to clean and desilt all major and minor drains, ensuring smooth flow of rainwater. Officials have identified vulnerable areas prone to flooding and are prioritizing their restoration.
Scope of the Revamp
The corporation has deployed multiple teams to clear blockages and remove silt from drains across all wards. Special attention is being given to low-lying areas where water accumulation has been a perennial problem. The project includes repairing damaged drainage lines and constructing new ones where necessary.
