The Karnataka state cabinet has given its approval to a comprehensive master plan for the development of the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, with an estimated cost of Rs 604.6 crore. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru, as confirmed by Temple Management Committee president Harish Injadi.
Key Developments Under the Master Plan
The project encompasses approximately 19 major development works aimed at enhancing infrastructure and facilities for devotees and temple staff. The temple already has the necessary funds but required government approval to proceed with the works. Among the key allocations, Rs 32 crore has been set aside for the construction of ‘Suttu Pauli’. Additionally, three new yajna shala blocks for devotees performing Sarpa Samskara rituals will be constructed at costs of Rs 5 crore, Rs 5.5 crore, and Rs 5.9 crore respectively.
Accommodation and Staff Housing
Significant investments have been planned for accommodation facilities at Injadi. Three lodging blocks will be built, each costing Rs 60 crore, while two dormitory blocks will be constructed at Rs 50 crore each. For temple staff housing, three C group residential blocks will be built at Rs 10.7 crore each, and three D group residential blocks at Rs 9.2 crore each.
Other Infrastructure Projects
Rs 77.2 crore has been earmarked for the construction of an Annadasoha Bhavan (community kitchen). A traditional Rathabeedi (car street) will be developed at a cost of Rs 47.5 crore. Furthermore, a commercial complex with accommodation facilities on the left side of the Rathabeedi will be constructed for Rs 82 crore. An Ashlesha Bali Mantapa will also be developed at the Tulasi Garden near the temple, with an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 crore.
According to Harish Injadi, the construction works are expected to commence within three months.
