Karnataka Govt Unveils 8 Education Guarantees

In a significant move to improve enrollment and quality in government schools, the Karnataka government has announced eight education guarantees aimed at transforming the state's public education system over the next three years. The promises were shared in a post by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Department of School Education on Monday.

Key Guarantees for Students and Teachers

The guarantees include one teacher per class up to Class 5 and subject-wise teachers from Class 6 onwards. All schools will offer optional English medium, with teachers receiving specialized training. The government also promised free transport for students of Karnataka Public Schools (KPS).

Technology and Non-Teaching Staff

Computer teachers will be appointed in all KPSs within three years. Dedicated teachers for arts, music, and physical education will also be hired. In another guarantee, the government said it will recruit separate staff for non-teaching tasks, allowing teachers to focus solely on teaching.

Quality Monitoring and Skill Development

Learning quality will be monitored through a lesson-based assessment system that tracks each child's progress. Mandatory parent-teacher meetings will be held every two months. Skill education will be introduced from Grade 6, and special coaching for competitive exams will be provided.

Vision for the Future

The department aims to enroll five million children in government schools over the next five years, promising to build the best government school system in the country. 'Our five-year vision is clear: to build the best government school system in the country. I invite parents and students to be part of this transformative journey,' the post stated.
