Lucknow Development Authority Proposes Major Multi-Level Parking Facility
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is actively preparing a detailed proposal to construct a state-of-the-art multi-level parking facility near the prominent Rashtra Prerna Sthal in the Basant Kunj scheme. This significant infrastructure project is slated to be developed on a substantial plot measuring 21,216 square meters located in sector-J of the area.
Project Cost and Approval Process
With an estimated cost of approximately Rs 150 crore, the ambitious initiative represents a major investment in urban infrastructure. The comprehensive proposal will be formally submitted to the Uttar Pradesh state government for necessary approvals before any construction can commence. LDA officials have confirmed that work on the project will only begin after receiving the green light from the government authorities.
Addressing Parking Challenges at Rashtra Prerna Sthal
Rashtra Prerna Sthal, which spans approximately 65 acres, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25, 2025. During the grand inauguration event, temporary parking arrangements had to be made on adjacent vacant land to accommodate the overwhelming influx of more than 2,500 buses and numerous other vehicles arriving from various districts across the region.
Given that large-scale public programs and events are expected to continue at this important venue, the proposed multi-level parking facility aims to provide a permanent solution to the persistent parking challenges in the surrounding area. The structure is specifically designed to alleviate congestion and streamline vehicle management during major gatherings.
Comprehensive Facility Design and Capacity
The planned parking complex will feature a sophisticated design with parking available on the ground floor, first floor, and second floor, complemented by two basement levels. According to LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar, the facility will have the capacity to park approximately 370 buses and more than 400 four-wheelers simultaneously, addressing both public and private vehicle needs.
Beyond basic parking, the project includes several enhanced features. The upper floors will house a fully-equipped guest house complete with rooms, a meeting hall, and a comfortable lounge area for visitors. Additionally, the plan incorporates strategically designed entry and exit plazas to efficiently regulate the movement of buses and other vehicles, ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Strategic Location and Connectivity Advantages
Officials have highlighted the advantageous location of the identified plot, which sits adjacent to Rashtra Prerna Sthal. The site benefits from excellent connectivity, being bordered by a 45-meter-wide road on one side and a 24-meter-wide road on the other. This dual-road access is expected to significantly facilitate vehicle movement management during events, preventing bottlenecks and ensuring orderly ingress and egress.
The Lucknow Development Authority emphasizes that this proposed facility will serve as a permanent parking arrangement for future events at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, ultimately reducing traffic congestion in the area and enhancing the overall experience for visitors attending programs at this nationally significant venue.
