This approach has led to severe traffic bottlenecks, with locals arguing that authorities should have prioritized roads sequentially to maintain manageable traffic flow. Instead, the blanket implementation has resulted in gridlock, making navigation a nightmare for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Compounding the issue, digging for the canal-based water supply project has been ongoing for months across various neighborhoods. With main roads like Malerkotla/Gill Road, Dugri, Jagraon Bridge, and Pakhowal Road blocked, daily transportation is a misery." He raised concerns about whether the sudden surge in activity is a rush to exhaust funds before the March 31 deadline or a tactic to make residents so desperate for completion that they overlook the quality of materials used.
Echoing this sentiment, Civil Lines resident Gulshan Sharma emphasized that citizens demand quality work, not just hasty execution, labeling the simultaneous paving as an administrative failure. Narinder Singh Masson of Karnail Singh Nagar highlighted the lack of traffic updates or alternative routes near the Gill Road bridge, leaving travelers stranded without assistance, further underscoring the poor planning.

In response, Municipal Corporation officials cited the winter season as a previous impediment to construction, explaining that the current push is necessary to catch up. They added that certain projects under central assistance schemes must adhere to strict deadlines, necessitating accelerated timelines. Regarding the water supply digging, officials urged patience, noting that laying lines for the city's canal-based supply is a massive and complex task that requires considerable time to complete properly.
