Mandya CEO: Action Against Officials for Poor Works

Mandya CEO Issues Stern Warning: Officials Face Action for Incomplete or Substandard Works

In a decisive move to ensure accountability and quality in public projects, Mandya Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer KR Nandini has declared that criminal and disciplinary action will be initiated against officials who approve bills for incomplete works, unsupplied materials, or substandard projects. This announcement came during a review of developmental activities, where Nandini expressed frustration over persistent issues in project execution.

Focus on Quality and Preventing Fund Lapses

Nandini directed all officials to prioritize the quality execution of developmental works and to take proactive measures to prevent the lapse of allocated funds. She emphasized that public money must be utilized efficiently and effectively, with no room for negligence or corruption. This directive aims to curb malpractices that have historically plagued infrastructure projects in the region.

Progress Review and Deadlines

During the review, Nandini revealed specific data on project statuses. Out of 274 works listed in the link document, 161 have been completed, while 88 are currently ongoing. Engineers were instructed to expedite these ongoing projects and settle all expenditures by March 10. However, she noted that projects with approved modifications are exempt from this deadline, provided they follow proper procedures.

Nandini made it clear that no additional time will be granted beyond the sanctioned deadlines for any projects. Any requests for extensions must be submitted in writing with clear justifications, and department heads are responsible for closely monitoring progress and quality. All required changes must be routed through proper channels to maintain transparency.

Strengthening Accountability Measures

To enhance oversight, taluk panchayat executive officers have been directed to convene regular meetings with officers and engineers and submit detailed progress reports. These reports will be reviewed in a follow-up meeting scheduled for March 5. Nandini stressed that all projects must secure prior approval from the competent authority through the chief planning officer's branch to avoid personal liability for officials involved.

Health Infrastructure Projects Under Scrutiny

Addressing critical health infrastructure, Nandini called for the timely completion of the human milk bank, which is currently at 40% civil work progress. She emphasized the need for durable construction standards to ensure long-term functionality. Additionally, the midwifery-led care unit is expected to be completed within 25 days, with regular monitoring by the authorities of the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS).

This comprehensive approach underscores the CEO's commitment to improving public services and infrastructure in Mandya, setting a precedent for stricter enforcement and better governance in developmental works.
