Mandya Deputy Commissioner Emphasizes Critical Role of Census in National Development
Mandya Deputy Commissioner Kumara has issued a strong directive to all district officers and enumerators, urging them to perform their duties with the utmost responsibility during the upcoming census. Speaking at the inauguration of a district-level training workshop for census officers held at the ZP auditorium on Monday, the DC highlighted that the census represents the largest public data-gathering activity in the country.
Census Data as Foundation for Future Development Plans
DC Kumara stressed that the information collected from the grassroots level will serve as the essential foundation for shaping India's development strategies over the next decade. This makes it imperative for every individual involved in the process to act with diligence and precision, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data gathered.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for seamless coordination among all participating officials to facilitate a smooth and efficient enumeration process. This marks the eighth census conducted since Independence and holds the distinction of being the first to be carried out entirely in digital mode, representing a significant shift in how demographic data is collected and managed.
Two-Phase Digital Census Schedule and Critical Warning
Kumara outlined the census schedule, which will occur in two distinct phases:
- The first phase, involving house-listing fieldwork, is scheduled from April 16 to May 15.
- The second phase of the actual population enumeration will take place from February 1 to 28 next year.
Because the current census is being conducted fully online, the DC issued a critical warning: there will be no opportunity for corrections once data is submitted. This underscores the importance of accuracy from the outset and places additional responsibility on enumerators to ensure error-free data collection.
Emphasis on Timely Completion and National Significance
The DC instructed all designated staff to ensure completion of the project within the stipulated timeframe, recognizing that delays could impact the broader national planning process.
