NHAI Launches MLFF at Manoharpura Toll Plaza on NH-48

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has accelerated the transformation of India's electronic toll collection system with the launch of Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) at the Manoharpura Toll Plaza on the Delhi-Jaipur section of NH-48 in Rajasthan. This marks the second MLFF toll plaza on this busy corridor, following the successful commissioning of the first at Daulatpura Toll Plaza on June 19.

How MLFF Works

The MLFF framework introduces barrier-less tolling with minimal human intervention, enabling vehicles to pass through toll locations without stopping and ensuring seamless traffic flow. The system integrates Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology with FASTag-based electronic toll collection to facilitate automated user fee collection. For a seamless experience, highway users are required to maintain sufficient balance in their FASTag accounts. In case of insufficient balance, invalid or nonfunctional FASTag, users receive an Electronic Notice (E-Notice) for non-payment. They must pay the normal user fee within 72 hours; otherwise, the fee doubles. E-Notices can be accessed via the designated portal and Rajmargyatra App.

Benefits and Future Plans

Implementation of MLFF has strengthened the tolling ecosystem by enhancing transparency, reducing operational costs associated with physical toll plazas, and improving overall efficiency. NHAI plans to transition the Shahjahanpur toll plaza to MLFF, making the entire Delhi-Jaipur section of NH-48 barrier-free. According to NHAI, this will significantly reduce travel time, congestion, and fuel consumption for commuters.
