A tin sheet from the ongoing Metro viaduct construction site near Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Pune fell onto the road on Saturday late evening due to strong winds. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

Maha Metro promptly halted all work related to the extension of the route from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Bhakti Shakti Chowk. The safety team of Maha Metro will conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident. Officials stated that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the lapse. Furthermore, instructions have been issued to inspect the entire stretch and tighten safety norms to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Details of the Incident
Maha Metro is constructing a viaduct for the extension of the route from PCMC to Bhakti Shakti Chowk. The tin sheet was being used as a cover on a machine installed on the viaduct for construction work. The strong wind caused the sheet to dislodge and fall onto the road. About 50% of the work on the PCMC to Bhakti Shakti Chowk stretch has been completed so far.
Authorities have assured that safety measures will be reviewed and strengthened to ensure the safety of commuters and workers. The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols at construction sites, especially during adverse weather conditions.
