Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Tuesday that India is now globally acknowledged for its rapid developmental pace, fueled by a series of transformative, cross-sectoral reforms designed to secure long-term, inclusive growth.
India's Youth Power the 'Reform Express'
In a detailed post on LinkedIn, the Prime Minister attributed this rising global stature to the innovation and energy of India's citizens. The world now views India with hope and confidence, appreciating how the speed of progress has been increased through next-generation reforms, he stated. PM Modi emphasized that the nation has boarded the 'Reform Express,' driven primarily by India's young demographic and the indomitable spirit of its people.
2025: A Year of Continuous Reform Mission
Reflecting on the concluding year, PM Modi asserted that 2025 will be remembered as a period when India treated reforms as an ongoing national mission, building upon the work of the past eleven years. The focus has been on modernizing institutions, simplifying governance, and strengthening foundations for sustainable growth. The government pursued this agenda with higher ambition, faster execution, and deeper change, aiming to enable citizens to live with dignity, give entrepreneurs confidence to innovate, and allow institutions to function with clarity and trust.
Key Reforms Highlighted by the Prime Minister
The Prime Minister cited specific examples of these wide-ranging reforms. He pointed to the simplified two-slab GST structure of 5% and 18%, which has eased the burden on households, MSMEs, farmers, and labour-intensive sectors.
Significant tax relief for the middle class was also highlighted, with no income tax for those earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually. Support for small businesses was extended by expanding the definition of small companies.
Other major initiatives mentioned include:
- 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the insurance sector.
- The introduction of new maritime and labour laws.
- Key international trade agreements.
- Clean energy reforms under the SHANTI Act.
- Enhanced rural employment generation under the Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act, 2025.
Concluding his message, PM Modi stated that the overarching goal of these reforms is to transition India from a control-based system to one built on trust, with citizens at its core. Building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) remains the ultimate objective. He urged continued trust in India and investment in its people, affirming that the reform agenda will persist.
