In a significant push for digital governance and infrastructure management, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated an upgraded version of a key public utility mobile application. The launch event, held on Saturday, marked the rollout of Lokpath 2.0, the advanced iteration of the Public Works Department's (PWD) citizen-centric platform.
A State-Level Push for Digital Innovation
The official launch took place at a state-level event combined with a training programme at Bhopal's Ravindra Bhavan. The gathering focused on departmental innovations, digital initiatives, and the crucial aspect of capacity building for engineers. This underscores the government's dual focus: deploying cutting-edge technology while simultaneously upskilling the personnel who will implement it.
During the event, CM Yadav emphasized the department's commitment to public welfare, aligning it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. He stated that quality infrastructure, built with sensitivity and foresight, makes public life simpler, safer, and more convenient. He praised the PWD for its innovative approach and adoption of modern technology, noting that the pace of execution reflects a department moving forward with a new vision.
What Lokpath 2.0 Offers to Citizens
The revamped Lokpath mobile app is designed to be a comprehensive, user-friendly, and modern digital interface between the public and the PWD. It aims to tighten oversight on road maintenance while significantly expanding services accessible to citizens. Key features of the application include:
- Road Maintenance Monitoring: Allowing for real-time tracking and reporting of road conditions.
- Swift Grievance Redressal: A streamlined system for the public to report issues and get timely solutions.
- Route Planning & Black Spot Alerts: Assisting in journey planning with alerts for accident-prone areas.
- Emergency SOS Facilities: Integrating safety features for road users.
- Information on Amenities: Providing details about roadside facilities.
Building Capacity for a Modern PWD
Beyond the app launch, the event highlighted a structured plan for human resource development. The Chief Minister released the Capacity Building Framework–2026, a document developed by the PWD to guide the training, skill upgradation, and modern project management capabilities of its engineers. This framework is pivotal for ensuring the department's workforce can effectively leverage new technologies and methodologies.
Additionally, a booklet showcasing the innovations and reform-oriented initiatives undertaken by the PWD over the past two years was released. This compilation offers insights into the department's strides in digital solutions, quality control, environmental conservation, new construction technologies, and modern management systems.
The introduction of Lokpath 2.0, coupled with the focused capacity building initiative, signals a transformative phase for Madhya Pradesh's public works and infrastructure management, aiming for greater transparency, efficiency, and citizen engagement.
