Dibrugarh: On Monday, as part of "Yatri Suvidha Diwas," Dibrugarh airport introduced a series of passenger-friendly initiatives, with a special emphasis on promoting environmental awareness by gifting tree saplings to arriving passengers.
As part of the celebrations, passengers landing at Dibrugarh airport were warmly received with tree saplings, a gesture aimed at encouraging green practices and inspiring travelers to contribute towards a more sustainable future. Arriving passengers expressed delight at the unique welcome.
Dibrugarh airport director Bangajit Saha said the initiative was part of a broader effort to make air travel a more meaningful and memory-filled experience for passengers. "Yatri Suvidha Diwas is about putting our passengers first, not just in terms of services and amenities but also in instilling a sense of environmental responsibility. By gifting saplings to those arriving at Dibrugarh, we hope to spread the message that every individual can contribute to a greener Assam and a greener nation. Initiatives like distributing saplings carry a strong message. We want every passenger who passes through Dibrugarh airport to carry back not just a pleasant memory but also a small green responsibility," he added.
Alongside the sapling distribution, passengers were welcomed with a traditional tilak, reflecting the airport's commitment to providing a warm and culturally rooted travel experience.
The day's program also included a collective rendition of Vande Mataram, a cleanliness drive, and felicitation of housekeeping staff for their continuous efforts in maintaining hygiene at the airport. Banners and posters highlighting the airport's growth over the last twelve years were displayed across the terminal, showcasing improvements in infrastructure, connectivity, and passenger amenities.
A traditional Bihu dance performance by schoolchildren added a festive touch to the celebrations, while an aviation quiz and dedicated selfie points kept passengers engaged throughout the day. A free medical and eye-screening camp was also organized for passengers, airport employees, and drivers.
