The Mysuru Railway Division is ramping up efforts to modernise railway infrastructure and improve passenger amenities across the region, announced Mudit Mittal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Mysuru Division, South Western Railway, during the inauguration of the 70th Railway Week Celebration 2025-26 in Mysuru.
Focus on Safety and Accessibility
Addressing railway employees and officials, the DRM emphasised that the Railways has intensified station development works with a strong focus on passenger safety, accessibility, and convenience. As part of these initiatives, platform height enhancement works are being carried out at several stations to facilitate safer and easier boarding for passengers, particularly senior citizens and disabled travellers.
Amrit Bharat Station Scheme Progress
Highlighting the progress under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Mittal stated that 15 stations under the Mysuru division have been identified for redevelopment. Several projects have already been completed, while the remaining works are expected to commence within the next four to five months. The redevelopment programme aims to transform railway stations in both urban and rural areas with modern facilities and improved passenger infrastructure.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance the travel experience and ensure that railway stations meet contemporary standards of comfort and safety. The division continues to work on various upgrades, including better waiting areas, improved lighting, and enhanced signage, to make railway travel more convenient for all passengers.
