Nalanda District Magistrate Dismisses LPG Shortage Rumors as Baseless

In Biharsharif, Nalanda district, claims of an LPG cylinder shortage have sparked panic among residents, leading to long queues outside gas agencies and a surge in refill bookings. However, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar has categorically dismissed these rumors as unfounded, urging the public not to be misled by such reports.

Assurance of Adequate Supply and Continuous Distribution

On Saturday, the DM emphasized that LPG cylinders are available in sufficient stock across the district. He stated that oil marketing companies are maintaining a steady and uninterrupted supply, aligned with actual consumption demands. "Consumers who have placed refill booking requests are being served as per the order of their applications — there is no queue, no delay, and certainly no shortage," he asserted.

According to the district administration, a robust network of 54 gas agencies in Nalanda distributes an average of approximately 16,131 LPG cylinders daily. This ensures a comfortable balance between demand and supply, preventing any genuine scarcity.

Proactive Measures Against Hoarding and Misuse

The administration is taking stringent steps to curb potential malpractices. Daily physical inspections of gas agencies and related facilities are being conducted in compliance with departmental directives. Simultaneously, raids are being carried out at locations suspected of hoarding or engaging in black marketing of cylinders.

Additionally, the administration is closely monitoring the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes, which can disrupt the supply chain. The DM warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in rumour-mongering or hoarding activities.

Redressal Mechanism for Consumer Complaints

To address any LPG-related issues promptly, the district control room has been activated. Residents can contact the toll-free number 06112-233168, which operates 24/7, for immediate assistance and grievance redressal. This initiative aims to provide a direct channel for consumers to report problems and seek solutions without delay.

The district magistrate's statements and actions highlight the administration's commitment to ensuring a smooth and reliable LPG supply, while combating misinformation and illegal practices that could cause unnecessary panic among the populace.
