In a significant push to modernize India's postal network, Union Minister for Communications and Northeast Region Development, Jyotiraditya Scindia, unveiled two new high-speed delivery services in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district. The announcement, made during a public event in Pichhor on Saturday, introduces Speed Post 24 and Speed Post 48, designed to guarantee delivery within one and two days, respectively.
A New Era of Punctual Postal Delivery
Addressing the gathering, Scindia, who is also the MP from Guna, detailed the new offerings. "I am bringing two new products to the people. One will be called Speed Post 24, which will deliver your Speed Post document to your home within 24 hours. The second is Speed Post 48," he stated. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing the reliability and speed of the national postal system, setting a new benchmark for timely service.
Infrastructure Boost for Pichhor
The minister's visit was marked by substantial infrastructure announcements for the local post office. Scindia inaugurated the renovated Pichhor sub-post office, a project completed with an investment of ₹2 lakh. Furthermore, he laid the foundation stone for a proposed new sub-post office building. The construction of this new facility is slated to cost ₹1 crore and 11 lakh, representing a major upgrade for postal services in the region.
Recent Telecom Security Reforms Highlighted
During his address, Minister Scindia also referenced recent transformative reforms in the telecom security sector, announced on December 29, 2025. He noted that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), through the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), has implemented key changes to boost indigenous manufacturing and testing.
"These transformative reforms will strengthen telecom security, reduce compliance burdens, enable sustainable industry growth and reinforce PM Narendra Modi ji's vision of Make in India, Make for the World," Scindia said.
The key reforms he highlighted include:
- Extension of the Pro Tem Security Certification Scheme for OEMs for 2 years.
- Reduced fees for Telecom Security Testing Laboratories (TSTLs).
He emphasized that these policies are aligned with the 'Design in India, Solve in India, Scale for the world' principle. The reforms deliver a substantial boost to ease of doing business, notably with a 90% reduction in compliance burden for women-led and MSME testing labs. Other labs will see a 50% reduction. Central and State Government testing agencies, IITs, and other government institutions have been granted a complete waiver of testing fees.
The launch of the new Speed Post services, coupled with the infrastructure investment in Pichhor and the overarching telecom security reforms, underscores the government's dual focus on upgrading essential public services and fostering a robust, secure, and self-reliant digital ecosystem for the nation.
