Punjab Power Minister Sanjeev Arora has assured that there will be no power shortage in the state from May 1. Speaking to media, he said that the state government has taken adequate measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer months.
Adequate Coal Stocks and Increased Generation
The minister highlighted that coal stocks at thermal plants are sufficient and power generation has been ramped up to meet the rising demand. He stated, 'We have ensured that all thermal plants are operating at full capacity, and there is no need for any load shedding.'
Measures Taken by the Government
Arora elaborated on the steps taken by the Punjab government to prevent power cuts. These include:
- Procurement of additional coal from domestic and international sources.
- Optimization of power purchase from central generating stations.
- Strict monitoring of distribution networks to minimize technical losses.
Impact on Consumers
With the assurance of no power shortage, residential, commercial, and industrial consumers can expect stable electricity supply. The minister also urged consumers to use electricity judiciously to avoid unnecessary wastage.
The announcement comes as a relief to residents who faced frequent power cuts in previous summers. The state government has also set up a control room to address any grievances related to power supply.
Sanjeev Arora reiterated the government's commitment to providing reliable electricity to all citizens and warned of strict action against those involved in power theft or illegal connections.
