Ration Depot Theft in Garhi Village Leads to Arrests
Gurgaon police arrested two individuals, Ajay and Sahil, on Monday for allegedly stealing goods from a ration depot in Garhi village. The stolen items, including 240 bottles of mustard oil and two sacks of sugar weighing 50 kg each, were reportedly purchased by Pawan Saini, brother of local trader Satish Saini. While Pawan remains at large, Satish has leveled serious allegations against the police, accusing them of misconduct and issuing threats to his family.
Details of the Incident
According to a police spokesperson, a complaint was lodged at the Sector 93 police post, under the jurisdiction of Sector 10 police station. The complaint stated that on the night of June 11, four individuals—Ajay, Sahil, Rahul, and Daksh, all residents of Garhi village—broke the lock of the depot, which operates under India's public distribution system (PDS), and stole oil and sugar. A case was registered under relevant sections at Sector 10 police station, and Ajay and Sahil were arrested on June 15.
Allegations of Police Misconduct
Following the theft, Satish Saini accused the police of forcibly entering his house on the evening of June 15, threatening him and his family, damaging belongings, assaulting his brother, and misbehaving with family members. In response to these allegations, a police spokesperson confirmed that an inquiry has been initiated and handed over to ACP West. The police have denied the allegations, stating that they are investigating the matter thoroughly.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The police are continuing their search for the remaining suspects, including Pawan Saini, who fled after the incident. The arrested individuals, Ajay and Sahil, are in custody and further investigations are underway. The inquiry into the alleged police misconduct will be conducted by ACP West, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
