Noida Residents Demand Urgent Action Over Leaking Ganga Pipeline in Sector 71
Noida Residents Alarmed by Leaking Ganga Pipeline in Sector 71

Residents of Noida have sounded the alarm over the deteriorating condition of the Ganga water pipeline located outside the Sector 71 CNG pump, which has been leaking persistently for several days. The situation has sparked widespread frustration among both commuters and local inhabitants, who accuse the Noida Authority's water department of inaction.

Long-Standing Issue with Severe Consequences

According to Avnish Kumar, a resident of Sector 77, the water pipeline has been regularly damaged for over 15 months, leading to significant road damage in the area. The compromised road not only increases the risk of accidents but also raises serious concerns about water contamination. Kumar expressed disappointment, stating that the Authority appears to have learned no lessons from previous incidents in Indore and Sector 150.

Urgent Calls for Safety Measures

Amit Gupta, another Sector 77 resident, highlighted the urgency of the situation. "The road is broken, and dirt is entering the pipeline," he said. Gupta pointed to the recent tragedy in Indore, where contaminated water resulted in fatalities, emphasizing that officials should prioritize public safety. Despite assurances from the Authority's water department, the reality remains troubling, with little progress observed on the ground.

Frustration Over Delayed Repairs

Gupta revealed that he has been complaining about the issue for the past 15 months. Although there was some initial movement following intervention from the MLA's office last year, progress stalled once again. All tenders for repairs were put on hold, leaving residents in a precarious situation. Gupta lamented, "It seems only when someone falls ill, or an accident occurs, that some action is taken. Until then, we continue to wait and suffer the consequences."

Growing Public Outcry

As public frustration mounts, residents and commuters are collectively calling on the Noida Authority to expedite repairs and ensure access to safe drinking water. VK Gupta from Sector 74 echoed these concerns, demanding that their issues be taken seriously before it is too late. The community's plea underscores a critical need for immediate action to prevent potential health hazards and accidents.

The Noida Authority's response to these escalating concerns is still awaited, leaving residents in a state of uncertainty and anxiety over their water safety and infrastructure integrity.
