Noida Residents Voice Concerns Over Civic Issues Ahead of Holi
With the vibrant festival of Holi approaching, residents across Noida's Alpha, Beta, and Delta sectors are raising serious concerns about irregular garbage collection and persistent water pipeline leakages. They allege inaction by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), calling for immediate corrective measures to ensure a clean and safe environment during the celebrations.
Garbage Collection Woes in Residential Sectors
Residents have reported that uncollected household waste, along with construction and demolition (C&D) debris, has been accumulating on sector roads for several days. Pramod Bhati, the RWA president of Delta 1, highlighted the failure of GNIDA's public health department to ensure regular garbage lifting through its contractor. "Waste is left unattended for days, and the collection process has become erratic," Bhati stated, emphasizing the need for swift action.
In Habibpur near Ecotech 3, RWA president Ranveer Choudhary added that the area designated for Holika Dahan remains unclean. "With the festival approaching, sanitation arrangements are inadequate. The site and surrounding areas require urgent cleaning to prevent health hazards," he explained.
Persistent Water Leakages and Infrastructure Problems
Water leakages have been reported at multiple locations, exacerbating the civic issues. In Beta 1, Harinder Bhati, the RWA general secretary, noted that a leak in the main Ganga water supply pipeline near Vishwas Bharti Public School (Gate No. 2) has persisted for 15 days despite repeated complaints. He warned of significant water wastage and potential soil erosion due to the ongoing issue.
Another leak has been identified near metro pillar No. 871A in front of Alpha 2, lasting over a week. Residents mentioned that this problem, combined with a broken sewer pipe and roadside obstructions, has led to waterlogging and traffic congestion, creating inconvenience for daily commuters.
Additional Complaints and Official Response
Beyond garbage and water issues, complaints were also raised about unattended horticulture waste in green belts and roundabouts, which further mars the aesthetic appeal of the sectors. In response to these grievances, GNIDA officials have assured residents that the concerns will be addressed soon. However, with Holi festivities just around the corner, residents remain anxious about the timely resolution of these pressing civic problems.
The combination of irregular waste management and persistent infrastructure failures highlights the need for improved municipal services in Noida, especially during festive periods when community gatherings and celebrations are at their peak.
