In a proactive move to enhance urban cleanliness and order, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) has intensified its early morning inspection drives, targeting key civic challenges such as encroachments and garbage management. These initiatives aim to bolster sanitation standards and ensure efficient civic management across the city.
Commissioner-Led Inspections Focus on Multiple Civic Aspects
Municipal Commissioner Vinay Kumar, accompanied by a dedicated civic team, recently conducted a comprehensive inspection in Sector 6. The review covered critical areas including cleanliness levels, door-to-door waste collection efficiency, park maintenance, encroachment issues, and the condition of public toilets. During the visit, residents' grievances were addressed promptly, with officials directed to implement swift resolutions to improve service delivery.
Awareness Campaigns and On-Ground Actions Amplify Efforts
Adding an educational dimension to the drive, children from the Meshaan Foundation spearheaded an engaging campaign promoting waste segregation and discouraging plastic use. This initiative received widespread appreciation from both officials and local residents, highlighting community involvement in civic betterment. The drive further included detailed assessments of sanitation services, road sweeping, civil works, and encroachment removal, with immediate actions such as garbage clearance near the Civil Hospital and Topiary Park demonstrating the MC's commitment to on-ground results.

In a parallel enforcement effort, the Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) carried out a major drive against illegal encroachments in urban areas, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma. Structures including a Gogga Mari temple in Maheshpur, Sector-21, and a Pir dargah in Devi Nagar, Sector-3, were demolished for violating planning norms by occupying green belt land under PMDA jurisdiction. These actions were executed in compliance with High Court directives, reinforcing the authorities' resolve to uphold urban planning standards.
