Patna Municipal Corporation Launches Training Drive for Swachh Survekshan 2026
The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has officially launched a comprehensive training and orientation campaign in preparation for the upcoming Swachh Survekshan 2026. This initiative is strategically focused on enhancing solid waste management and used water management systems across the city. The civic body is conducting phased training sessions for a wide range of stakeholders, including municipal officials, sanitation workers, private agencies, and social organizations.
Aligning with National Benchmarks
The primary objective of this campaign is to align Patna's sanitation infrastructure and workforce with established national benchmarks. By improving operational coordination, transparency, and overall preparedness, the PMC aims to significantly boost the city's performance in the national cleanliness survey. PMC commissioner Yashpal Meena has directed all concerned officials and agencies to actively participate in these crucial training sessions.
Phased Training Sessions Commence
The training programme commenced on February 20 with an initial session dedicated to technical and administrative officers. This session focused on advanced solid waste management strategies and operational frameworks. Following this, a workshop was organized on February 24 specifically for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations. This workshop aimed to encourage robust community participation and foster collaborative efforts in urban sanitation.
Focus on Sanitation Workers and Safety
On February 25 and 26, specialized sessions were conducted for sanitation workers under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) programme. These sessions addressed critical safety protocols, health standards, and best practices across various city circles. The training emphasized the importance of worker safety and efficient service delivery in maintaining public health and hygiene.
Upcoming Session for Private Providers
A dedicated session for private service providers is scheduled for the upcoming Friday. This session will comprehensively discuss standard operating procedures, effective reporting mechanisms, and stringent service quality parameters. The goal is to ensure that all private entities involved in sanitation services adhere to uniform standards and contribute effectively to the city's cleanliness goals.
The civic administration has stated that this extensive training initiative is designed to create a more coordinated, transparent, and efficient sanitation ecosystem in Patna. By involving multiple stakeholders, the PMC hopes to build a sustainable model that not only prepares the city for Swachh Survekshan 2026 but also establishes long-term improvements in urban cleanliness and waste management practices.
