PM Modi Announces Accelerated Development for Union Territories
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday evening in Daman that the Union government is committed to ensuring the rapid development of Union territories. Addressing a public meeting, Modi highlighted that several projects related to connectivity, health, education, tourism, and urban infrastructure, for which foundation stones have been laid, will enhance the quality of life for residents of Daman, Diu, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli. These initiatives are expected to pave the way for larger welfare projects.
Key Projects and Their Impact
Infrastructure Boost: The Prime Minister emphasized that these projects will simplify daily life, generate growth and employment opportunities, and strengthen the hospitality industry. He stressed the importance of sustainable development and praised the planting of 100,000 saplings in the Union territory.
Solar Energy Achievements: Modi noted with pride that 100% of government buildings in the Union territory operate on solar power. In Diu, daytime electricity needs are met through solar energy. He urged expanding this initiative to residential areas.
Foundation for Future Growth
Referring to the newly unveiled airport terminal, bridge, beachfront, convention center, hospital, and other projects, Modi stated, "We are laying the foundation for bigger projects in this Union territory. It will lead to newer business opportunities, and the hospitality economy will receive a boost."
Blue Economy Vision
The Prime Minister also announced that foundation stones for ports on two Lakshadweep islands have been laid, aligning with the Centre's vision to give a new direction to the blue economy.
These developments reflect the government's commitment to holistic and sustainable growth, leveraging renewable energy and infrastructure to transform Union territories into models of progress.
