The viral post falsely claims that the PMC is offering a 30% flat discount on property tax to elderly residents. This misinformation has caused significant confusion and disruption within the municipal administration.
Official Clarification from Property Tax Department Head
Ravi Pawar, the head of PMC's property tax department, has categorically denied the existence of any such discount scheme. He stated, "The administration is not offering any special discount to anybody. Senior citizens have been contacting the municipal office in large numbers to enquire about the rebate. It has led to confusion within the tax collection department." Pawar emphasized that the message is entirely fabricated and has no basis in official policy.
