Prayagraj Railway Division Intensifies Ticket Checks, Recovers Over Rs 2.15 Lakh in Fines

In a significant crackdown on railway irregularities, the Prayagraj Division of the North Central Railway (NCR) executed two rigorous ticket-checking operations at major stations over consecutive days. These drives were orchestrated under the direct guidance of Hari Mohan, the senior divisional commercial manager for Prayagraj, aiming to enforce compliance and enhance revenue collection.

Wednesday's Major Operation at Prayagraj Junction

On Wednesday, a focused barricading-based ticket-checking initiative was launched at Prayagraj Junction. The operation was spearheaded by Dinesh Kumar, the assistant divisional commercial manager (Coaching), with vigilant supervision from VK Dwivedi, the station director of Prayagraj Junction.

During this intensive drive, railway officials identified and penalized a total of 300 passengers for various travel violations. The breakdown of fines is as follows:

  • 93 passengers were caught travelling without valid tickets, resulting in fines totaling Rs 92,800.
  • 207 passengers were found engaging in irregular travel practices, leading to penalties amounting to Rs 1,04,450.

Combined, these actions recovered a substantial sum of Rs 1,97,250 from the offenders, underscoring the division's commitment to curbing unauthorized travel.

Thursday's Drive Between Prayagraj Junction and Subedarganj

The following day, another targeted operation was conducted along the route between Prayagraj Junction and Subedarganj station. This check yielded significant results, as four passengers were apprehended for transporting a massive 1,600 kg of unbooked luggage.

According to Amit Kumar Singh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Prayagraj Division, the penalties imposed included:

  1. A fine of Rs 16,291 specifically for the unbooked luggage.
  2. An additional recovery of Rs 1,500 from the same passengers for ticket-less travel.

This brought the total fines from Thursday's operation to Rs 17,791, highlighting the division's zero-tolerance policy towards luggage violations alongside ticket fraud.

Overall Impact and Passenger Advisory

Across both campaigns, the Prayagraj Division penalized a cumulative total of 304 passengers and recovered over Rs 2.15 lakh in fines, demonstrating a robust enforcement mechanism. Beyond penalties, the railway administration actively engaged with passengers to promote lawful travel practices.

Officials encouraged commuters to utilize the Rail One App for convenient ticket bookings, emphasizing a special 3% discount available until July 14. Additionally, passengers were advised to:

  • Travel exclusively with valid tickets to avoid penalties.
  • Use foot overbridges when moving between platforms for enhanced safety.
  • Cooperate in maintaining cleanliness and security across railway premises.

These initiatives not only bolster revenue but also aim to foster a safer, more orderly travel environment within the Prayagraj Division, reinforcing the North Central Railway's dedication to operational excellence and passenger welfare.
