Prayagraj Transport Department Launches Mandatory Vehicle Safety Portal for Schools

In a significant move to bolster student safety, the transport department in Prayagraj has rolled out a new mandatory initiative requiring all school managements to submit comprehensive affidavits regarding their vehicles through a dedicated online portal. This measure is designed to enforce greater accountability and ensure that school transport meets stringent safety standards.

Key Requirements and Compliance Measures

School authorities must now furnish detailed information via a notarized affidavit on the portal upisvmp.com. The affidavit, which must be uploaded on a Rs 100 stamp paper and verified by a notary, requires declarations that all vehicle-related documents are valid and up-to-date. Officials have emphasized that compliance is compulsory, and failure to provide accurate information or upload necessary documents could result in further action.

The portal mandates the submission of extensive details, including:

  • Vehicle registration number, type, age, and model
  • Engine and chassis numbers
  • Ownership details and permit status
  • Fitness certificates, insurance, and pollution certificates
  • GPS installation status

Additionally, schools must answer critical questions about roadworthiness and adherence to safety protocols.

Background and Enforcement Drive

This initiative follows a recent review by the transport department, which identified over 400 school vehicles operating with expired fitness certificates. Notices have already been issued to both vehicle owners and school managements in response to these findings. To further tighten oversight, the department has launched a special enforcement drive against school vehicles starting April 1, with strict penalties for those failing to meet fitness norms.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Administration) Rajeev Chaturvedi stated, "School authorities must upload the affidavit declaring that all documents related to their vehicles are valid. This step is crucial for ensuring the safety of our children and bringing greater transparency to school transport operations."

The new system aims to streamline monitoring and reduce risks associated with unsafe school vehicles, marking a proactive approach by authorities to address long-standing concerns in the region.
