Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav officially launched the upgraded Saanjh Citizen Portal at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur on Wednesday. The event marked a significant step towards enhancing citizen-police interaction through digital means.
New Features and Initiatives
The upgraded portal introduces 14 new features designed to streamline police services. Among them, Aadhaar-enabled eKYC for police verifications stands out as a key addition, ensuring faster and more secure identity checks. Special services for senior citizens have also been incorporated, addressing the needs of the elderly population.
DGP Yadav was accompanied by Special DGP Gurpreet Kaur Deo, who heads the Community Affairs Division. Together, they flagged off a fleet of 93 electric scooters for women police personnel managing the Punjab Police Mahila Mitra and Women Help Desks. This initiative aims to improve mobility and efficiency for women officers serving in community outreach roles.
Enhanced Digital Services
The revamped portal is expected to simplify access to police services for citizens across Punjab. With features like online verification requests and dedicated senior citizen services, the portal aligns with the state's push for digital governance. The eKYC integration will reduce paperwork and processing times for background checks and other verification needs.
The launch event underscored the Punjab Police's commitment to leveraging technology for better public service. The new electric scooters will enable women personnel to respond more quickly to community needs, particularly in areas covered by Mahila Mitra and Women Help Desks.
