Ranchi DC Warns BLOs for Poor Voter Revision Performance

Ranchi: Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Electoral Officer (DEO) Manjunath Bhajantri issued a stern warning on Wednesday, stating that booth level officers (BLOs) demonstrating poor performance in the ongoing pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work will face disciplinary action. Over 3,000 BLOs have been deployed for the SIR exercise across Ranchi district.

Review Meeting Directives

During a review meeting, Bhajantri instructed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to issue show-cause notices to underperforming BLOs. He also directed the District Education Officer and District Education Superintendent to ensure the transfer of teachers serving as BLOs who have failed to report to the respective EROs.

Medical Board for Absenteeism

Addressing absenteeism on health grounds, Bhajantri ordered the formation of a district-level medical board to verify the authenticity of such claims. This step aims to curb misuse of medical leave by BLOs.

Constituency-Wise Progress

The district comprises seven assembly constituencies: Tamar, Silli, Khijri, Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke, and Mandar. The DC directed officials to complete the mapping of remaining voters within a stipulated timeframe, emphasizing time-bound execution.

Focus on Accuracy

Bhajantri stated, “Accuracy of the electoral roll is our top priority. BLOs must conduct door-to-door verification to ensure no eligible voter is left out. Deletion of names must follow prescribed norms.” He reiterated that any negligence in this process would invite strict action.
