Ranchi's Major Flyover Project Gains Momentum with 37% Completion
The ambitious construction of the 1.25-kilometer Siramtoli-Kantatoli connecting flyover in Ranchi has significantly accelerated, with intensive piling and foundation activities now underway at multiple strategic locations across the city. This critical infrastructure development, valued at Rs 213.35 crore, is designed to seamlessly link Bahu Bazar to Patel Chowk, thereby connecting two major transportation corridors and dramatically improving traffic flow across some of Ranchi's most congested urban stretches.

According to authoritative officials from the Road Construction Department (RCD), the project has already achieved an impressive 37% completion rate as of the latest assessment. The structural work is advancing systematically across the planned 78 spans of the flyover. Specifically, 12 spans have successfully progressed to the substructure stage, while 4 spans have been fully constructed up to the superstructure level. An additional 2 spans are currently under active construction, with foundation operations continuing at several other points to ensure sustained project momentum and adherence to the aggressive timeline.
Strategic Design and Anticipated Traffic Benefits
The four-lane elevated flyover is strategically designed to originate near the bustling Bahu Bazar area and integrate flawlessly with existing flyover networks at both terminal points, thereby creating a continuous and seamless elevated corridor. "This transformative project is specifically engineered to alleviate severe congestion at the critical Siramtoli Junction, where current traffic volumes consistently exceed the designed capacity of the existing infrastructure," explained Sunil Kumar, the Secretary of the Road Construction Department. He further elaborated that upon completion, the vehicle load at this junction is projected to decrease by approximately 56%, marking a substantial improvement in daily commute conditions.
"The new flyover will facilitate uninterrupted vehicular movement for long-distance commuters and is expected to drastically reduce overall travel time across the city. The sophisticated integration of multiple traffic corridors will fundamentally transform the landscape of urban mobility in Ranchi, enhancing efficiency and reducing environmental pollution from idling vehicles," Secretary Kumar added, highlighting the broader urban development benefits.

Initiated in May 2025, this major infrastructure endeavor is firmly on track to meet its targeted completion deadline of December this year.
