Ranchi Launches 'One Road, One Team' System for Better Road Management
Ranchi's New Road Management System Aims for Accountability

Ranchi Municipal Corporation Rolls Out New Road Management Initiative

Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has launched a fresh approach to road management in the city. The new system carries the name "One Road – One Team – One Responsibility". This initiative focuses on ten major and high-traffic roads across Ranchi. Dedicated teams will now monitor these roads to enhance cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance.

Dedicated Teams for Clear Accountability

Under this program, RMC has formed Dedicated Road Management Teams (DRMTs). Each selected road gets one team assigned to it. An assistant engineer serves as the nodal officer for every road. This officer becomes the single point of accountability for all works and issues related to that specific stretch.

The corporation aims to solve long-standing problems caused by fragmented responsibility. Previously, multiple departments worked on the same road without proper coordination. The new system seeks to eliminate this confusion.

Comprehensive Team Composition and Weekly Reviews

Every DRMT includes officials from various civic departments. These cover sanitation, encroachment control, horticulture, and water supply. The teams also have members from building and estate, food safety, advertisement regulation, public toilets, and field operations.

RMC will conduct weekly reviews to track progress on all ten roads. This regular check will help address issues promptly and maintain consistent oversight.

Major Roads Covered in First Phase

The initial phase of the system covers several important corridors in Ranchi. Key stretches include Kutchery Chowk to Rajendra Chowk and Rajendra Chowk to Birsa Chowk. Other roads are Kutchery Chowk to Piska More and Ratu Road to Argora Chowk.

The list also features Kutchery Chowk to Booty More and the Karamtoli–Morabadi–Lok Bhavan–Ranchi University loop. Albert Ekka Chowk to Kokar Chowk via Lalpur is included as well.

Wide Range of Responsibilities for Teams

The dedicated teams will handle multiple aspects of road management. Their duties include road and footpath maintenance along with drainage cleaning. They will also manage waterlogging control and street lighting.

Encroachment removal and sanitation fall under their purview. The teams will look after greenery, regulation of hoardings, and upkeep of public toilets. Monitoring of food stalls is another key responsibility.

Digital Tools for Enhanced Monitoring

RMC plans to use digital tools for inspections and monitoring. These will include photo and video documentation. The corporation will also employ drone-based monitoring for a comprehensive view of road conditions.

Official Statement on the Initiative

RMC administrator Sushant Gaurav commented on the new system. He stated that each identified road will now have a dedicated team and a nodal officer. This structure ensures clear accountability for all civic issues.

Gaurav emphasized that weekly reviews will help address problems on time. He believes improved coordination will lead to better road management across the city.
