Newly appointed Civil Surgeon Dr Sandeep Dhawan conducted surprise inspections at health facilities in Sri Goindwal Sahib, Fatehabad, and Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran, on Wednesday. The inspections aimed to review the functioning of various departments and ensure effective delivery of healthcare services.
Directions to healthcare staff
During the visits, Dr Dhawan directed heads of institutions and staff to ensure that members of the public receive the full benefit of the healthcare facilities provided by the Punjab Government without inconvenience. He stressed that timely treatment, cleanliness, discipline and courteous behaviour towards patients must remain top priorities.
Areas inspected
The Civil Surgeon inspected the outpatient department (OPD), maternal and child ward, emergency department, X-ray unit, laboratory, drug store, birth and death registration branch, and the de-addiction centre. He also interacted with patients to seek feedback on the services being provided and issued on-the-spot directions to officials for necessary improvements.
Warning against negligence
Addressing healthcare staff, Dr Dhawan said it was the Health Department’s foremost responsibility to ensure that every patient received prompt treatment and had access to government healthcare services. Issuing a stern warning against negligence, Dr Dhawan said no employee found neglecting their duties would be spared. He further said that surprise inspections would continue across all government hospitals and health centres in the district to strengthen accountability and ensure the delivery of quality, transparent and patient-centric healthcare services.
