Telangana Extends Prajavani Grievance Redressal to Village Level
Telangana Extends Prajavani to Village Level

The Congress government in Telangana has decided to extend Prajavani services to the revenue division and mandal levels across the state. Currently, Prajavani centres operate at the state level in Greater Hyderabad and at all district headquarters.

CM Revanth Reddy Reviews Prajavani Expansion

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a review meeting with top officials at the MCRHRD Institute on Sunday. He directed Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and Chief Minister's Office (CMO) officials to develop an administrative mechanism ensuring officials at all levels are available to resolve grievances.

The Chief Minister emphasized the creation of a unified digital platform for registration, tracking, and resolution of grievances as Prajavani services are extended to grassroots levels. This move aims to provide relief to citizens from rural areas who otherwise have to travel to Hyderabad or district headquarters to file complaints.

Mandatory Complaint Registration and Tracking

Specific instructions were issued mandating that every complaint submitted by citizens must be duly registered, forwarded to the relevant department, and the applicant kept informed about the status of their application. The CM stressed that all departments should set deadlines to resolve grievances without delay.

A real-time monitoring mechanism will be established at both state and district levels to ensure timely resolution. Dedicated nodal officers will be appointed for Prajavani services at every administrative level, and specialized Prajavani wings will be established in every district and government department.

Auto-Escalation and Appeal Mechanism

An auto-escalation system will be implemented to ensure that if a grievance remains unresolved at one level, the petition is automatically forwarded to a higher official. If necessary, an appeal mechanism will also be introduced. The CM warned that there must be absolutely no compromise in the grievance redressal process and directed regular review meetings at both state and district levels.

Officials were instructed to pay special attention to pending grievances and monitor progress through a dashboard. Concerned officials will be held accountable for any delays in addressing grievances.

Decentralization to Reduce Burden

The Chief Minister highlighted that decentralizing Prajavani services would help reduce the burden on state and district-level centres. Prajavani was launched immediately after the Congress government assumed office in December 2023, with the objective of addressing people's grievances expeditiously. Since then, Prajavani has been successfully conducted every Tuesday and Friday at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet.

Officials from various departments receive applications and petitions directly from the public and take immediate action. The Prajavani programme is also organized every week under the supervision of collectors at the district level.
